Soy Deli Customers 9/27/2007
QUONG HOP sent out several large batches of tofu samples Tuesday 9/18/2007 ( after the bacteria notice from Washington State). For further assurance, we sent out more samples on 9/22/2007 and have just gotten back the results. All Soy Deli - Baked Tofu (Honey Sesame, Hickory, Teriyaki, Five Spice,Savory),Tofu Burgers (Original,Garden, BBQ, Cajun,Teriyaki) ,Soy Deli Water Pack (Gourmet Orange, Nigari Red) and 8 oz Vacuum Pack, Hawaiian tofu all came back clean with no sign of bacteria.
However the Soy Deli 12oz Vacuum Pack Nigari White Tofu (the original sample that was detected with bacteria) and Soy Deli 30oz Vacuum Pack White Tofu, Bulk 10 and 25 lb White Tofu came back with some traces of Listeria Bacteria in a few samples.
Due to these results we are taking the following additional steps:
We are expanding the recall to Soy Deli 12oz Vacuum Pack Nigari White Tofu UPC 35302-00216 (dates through 1/28/2008), 30 oz Vacuum Pack White Tofu UPC 35302-00217(dates through 11/28/2007), Bulk tofu 10 and 25lb cases. All the above tofu were made on the same packaging machine and are thus are considered suspect and therefore are being recalled. No illnesses had been reported
Just to assure our customers: We have taken the following steps since we first heard of the bacteria-
We apologize for the inconvenience of the recall action and will do all we can with to minimize the inconvenience. This is our first bout with Listeria in over 100 years of being in business and our first concern is the safety of our consumers.
